Dr. Lei Lei graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1989 with a
Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and a minor in Computer Sciences. She jointed
Rutgers Business school as an Assistant Professor in 1989 and received her
tenure in 1996. Her main research interests are in supply chain logistics
optimization, distribution network designs, channel coordination analysis
and optimization, cyclic scheduling, computer simulation and
resource constrained project management. She has published a number
of research papers in academic journals such as Management Science, IIE
Transactions, ORSA Journal on Computing, European Journal of
Operations Research, Computers and Operations Research, Interfaces, etc.
Her recent work includes the development of optimal operational
strategies to minimize the inventory, purchasing, and distribution costs for
supply chains. She is also a leading researcher for a recent industry
project on integrated planning of production, inventory, and
transportation which led to a multiple-million-dollar annual saving for the
company. She is currently the director of Rutgers Center for Supply Chain
Management, Rutgers Business school, and the dissertation advisor of seven
Ph.D. students. She is also an Associate Editor of IIE Transactions.
